I got mine when I was 26 years old, and I’m not sure if it’s still the same in Canada (that was 12 years ago) but at that time I actually had to have my wife sign a contract allowing me to get a vasectomy…so as far as bodily autonomy goes it’s a super interesting thing to think about! We didn’t want more kids, but technically if she did, and I didn’t want more, and she didn’t sign the contract I couldn’t have had one even if I wanted one at that point in time.
