Unlearning The Rules That No Longer Apply

“So why are you monogamous? Do you know about the history and origins of monogamy?”

This is my retort when prompted for my opinions on monogamy by a monogamous thinker.

Nobody ever asked my husband and I why we were monogamous when we were first together. It was unconscious, the ‘done’ thing. Questioning monogamy was not something that we gave any thought to until the waves of compersion crashed into our relationship.
